Overview

The VCHC Scenario Player is a clinical scenario based learning system that allows users to improve their ability to appropriately manage a patient over time: from presentation, to admission, discharge and follow-up. The product is a part of an online education platform operated by the A.T. Still University - School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA), and partially owned by Medical Joyworks LLC.

In detail

Launched in September 2018, the VCHC Scenario Player is designed to help players apply careful diagnostic thinking and appropriate management techniques, all while understanding the rationale underlying today’s most relevant clinical management decisions. The app is currently used by healthcare professionals and students focused on providing attention to underserved communities across the United States.

At present, the Scenario Player holds 26 learning modules (or scenarios) covering numerous settings, including the emergency department, medical clinics, a school health center, and even a sojourn in the cardiac telemetry ward. Just as in real life, players have to interact with dozens of interesting characters: patients, bystanders, junior and senior colleagues, and manage those interactions properly. The Scenario Player is only being offered to students of A.T. Still University - School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) and members of the ATSU Virtual Community Health Center (ATSU-VCHC) at https://vchc.atsu.edu/.
